1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or using QuizCommons in any way, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the platform.

2. What QuizCommons is

QuizCommons is a free, open, credited database of quiz questions, plus a live video game room for playing them. It is operated from India. Playing, browsing, and contributing are free and always will be — the platform is donation-funded, with no fees for using it, ever.

3. Accounts

You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account. Keep your account information accurate — in particular, the name you choose to be credited as should genuinely be you or a name you're known by in the quizzing community. One account per person, please. You can delete your account at any time by contacting us.

4. Contributing questions

If you submit questions, you confirm you have the right to give them and that the credit (writer, club, year) you provide is accurate. You choose a licence for each submission — CC BY 4.0, CC BY-NC 4.0, QuizCommons-only, or public domain (CC0) — and that licence governs how the question may be reused by others. You keep authorship of your contributions; you're licensing them to us and, depending on the licence chosen, to the public.

Every submission is reviewed by an editor before it appears publicly. We may reject, request changes to, or lightly edit submissions (for example, for clarity or to flag likely duplicates), and we keep a permanent log of changes to each question for provenance and accountability — even if the question is later withdrawn. We don't guarantee that any submission will be published.

You can ask us to withdraw anything you've contributed at any time, no argument. Withdrawal removes it from QuizCommons going forward; it can't undo copies already made by others under an open licence before withdrawal.

5. License you grant us

Beyond the licence you pick for a contributed question, you grant QuizCommons a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, and operate the service around anything you submit or post (including your profile information and game activity) — only as needed to run the platform, not to use it for unrelated purposes.

6. Live games

The game room uses live video between participants. Be respectful of the other players in your game — harassment, cheating (for example, looking up answers during play), or abusive behaviour can result in account suspension.

7. Ratings and standings

Rating and standings systems are still being built and may change as we tune them. We'll always aim to keep the underlying game history intact even if the formula changes.

8. Donations

Donations are voluntary, platform-wide, and never a condition of using the service.

9. Acceptable use

No illegal content, harassment, impersonation, spam, or attempts to disrupt the platform or other users' games. No attempting to access another user's account, circumvent our security measures, or scrape the platform at scale without our permission. We can suspend or remove accounts that violate this.

10. Our intellectual property

The QuizCommons name, logo, and the platform's own design and code belong to QuizCommons, separately from any content contributed by users. Nothing here grants you rights to our branding beyond what's needed to use the service normally.

11. Third-party links and services

QuizCommons relies on third-party infrastructure to operate (for example, video and hosting providers), and pages may link to external clubs, leagues, or resources we don't control. We're not responsible for the content or practices of third-party sites you reach from QuizCommons.

12. Termination

You can stop using QuizCommons and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, and reserve the right to discontinue features or the service itself with reasonable notice where practical.

13. Disclaimer & limitation of liability

QuizCommons is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, while we're actively building it. To the extent permitted by law, we're not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

14. Indemnification

You agree to hold QuizCommons harmless from claims arising from content you contribute, your conduct on the platform, or your violation of these terms.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and any disputes will be handled in Indian courts.

16. Severability

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest of the terms remain in effect.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the platform grows. We'll post the updated date here; continued use after a change means you accept the update.
